Start a walking habit
March 2, 2026
WHO says some activity is better than none. Day one only needs to be easy enough to repeat.
Brisk walking is moderate activity: you breathe harder, you can talk, you cannot sing a full line. That is the level CDC uses for the weekly adult target.
WHO and CDC both set a floor near 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, for example 30 minutes on five days. You do not have to do it in one block.
Day one is not 150 minutes. Pick a familiar loop, go slowly, and come back. It needs to be easy enough that you want to go tomorrow.
A large share of adults still sit too much. Vietnam's health ministry uses the same 150 to 300 minute weekly range. Start small, then raise it.
This is public guidance, not a doctor's note. If you have heart, joint, or blood sugar concerns, ask the person who follows your health before you speed up.
Sources: WHO and CDC. Adults should get about 150 minutes of moderate activity a week. Some is still better than none.
